Artist/s statement

Trikone Australia presents SATRANG, an art exhibition that celebrates the vibrant intersection of South Asian queer identities through diverse artistic expressions. The exhibition features a rich tapestry of art forms, including painting, ceramics, film, and performance art, all exploring the themes of intersectionality and identity.

"Satrang" is a Hindi word that means "seven colours" or "colourful" (like a rainbow). It often describes something vibrant, diverse, and colourful, symbolizing a spectrum of hues and diversity.

The two-day event will kick off with an Opening Night Gala on Saturday, 22 June, from 6:30pm to 9pm.

Attendees will be treated to an array of performances, including live Tabla music, a captivating drag show, and heartfelt poetry readings. The evening will also feature an insightful artists' talk, providing a platform for the talented individuals behind the exhibition to share their stories and inspirations.

On Sunday, 23 June, the exhibition will be open to the public from 11am to 4pm, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant and thought-provoking artwork at their leisure.

The exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the talent, diversity, and resilience of the South Asian queer community. Join us at Chrissie Cotter Gallery on 22 and 23 of June for an unforgettable experience that promises to inspire, enlighten, and entertain.
