Sydney WorldPride and Pride Inner West 2023
Inner West Council was proud to celebrate Sydney WorldPride 2023.
Our vibrant Pride Inner West festival was a three-week program of free and low-cost events, held leading up to and during Sydney WorldPride.
The program was developed in partnership with local LGBTQ+ community organisations and included over 60 performances, programs, activities and workshops, and was attended by more than 20,000 people.
See our Pride Inner West page for more details on the 2023 program of events.
Inner West Council also successfully applied for extended trading hours to support local businesses during this period and launched the newly renamed Pride Square in Newtown.
Pride Square features the landmark Pride beacon, which celebrates our diverse inner west LGBTQ+ communities and remains an important cultural landmark and tourist attraction in the inner west. Pride Square will also house the Pride Centre, to be located on the site of the former Newtown Town Hall.
