Meet the Team

Kerry Hunt – Manager Building Certification

Kerry has over 40 year experience in Building Surveying in local government both here and in the UK. Known as a straightforward, practical professional, Kerry has worked across a wide array of building jobs. From complex multi residential, industrial commercial jobs and fire upgrades, to all varieties of residential jobs, Kerry can always be relied on to offer practical and pragmatic advice and to value add to your projects. She has acted on many technical advisory committees during legislative changes and is able to provide background and big picture advice to ensure the best outcomes for applicants and the community.

Tom Williams – Senior Building Surveyor 

Tom has been with Council since 2012. A country boy at heart, Tom’s easy going manner and approach to solving issues and problems holds him in good stead with builders, applicants and neighbours alike. He possesses a highly technical ability in understanding the National Construction Code (BCA) and planning legislation. His practical and logical approach allows him to relate well and provide good technical advice on all classes of buildings and undertake the Principal Certifier role on all classes of buildings.

Mirjana Kovacevic - Building Surveyor

Mira has extensive experience in the construction industry and a practical approach and can do attitude to ensuring timely and professional assessment of all applications. Having worked in the Ashfield area for many years her local knowledge and keen attitude make her a valuable team member. Working towards her A3 accreditation Mira aims to ensure a timely assessment of all Part 4A applications, provides great advice and is our one stop shop for all inclusive quotes.

Sam Kassir - Building Surveyor

Sam began his role as a Building Surveyor in 2018 after successfully completing a Bachelor of Construction Management and Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying .Sam’s first role as a Building Surveyor was within the private sector working predominantly on Class 2 – Class 9 projects , he joined local Government in 2020, during this time he has been involved in a wide range of projects from Class 1 & Class 10 residential to Class 2-Class 9 Commercial, multi residential and compliance certificates. Sam is passionate about his work and has a strong commitment to serve the Inner West community to the highest standard.

Terry Oh - Building Surveyor

Terry has over 20 years’ experience in the building and construction industry across the private and public sector. He possesses extensive knowledge of fire safety, having started his career as an Apprentice before attaining qualification as a Tradesman, and then transitioning into a Project Manager. Terry has a keen interest for learning and was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Fire Safety Engineering and Graduate Certificate in Building Surveying with distinction. Terry is currently working a registered Certifier for Council and holds accreditation as Building Surveyor – Restricted (Class 1 and 10). Terry can certainly assist when it comes to understanding the Building Code of Australia, state planning legislation or just want to have a chat about building work.

Jason Camara - Building Surveyor

Jason commenced his career in Local Government in 2018 as an Environmental Health Officer before progressing into the role of Building Compliance Officer and, more recently, a Building Surveyor. This varied background has provided him with a broad understanding of local government and a practical approach to building certification and compliance. Jason is accredited as a Building Inspector and is currently working towards accreditation as a Building Surveyor – Restricted (Class 1 and 10), with Class 1 and 10 residential buildings being his primary area of specialisation. He takes pride in being thorough and attentive in his work and is committed to providing a high level of service to Inner West residents. He enjoys working with owners, builders and applicants to navigate building and certification requirements and achieve practical, positive outcomes.

Fiona Stapleton - Para-Certification Officer

Fiona has over 20 years of customer service experience across a variety of industries in both the private and public sectors. Since joining Inner West Council in 2017, she has built extensive knowledge of Council services and now plays a key role in the Building Certification Team. Fiona manages swimming pool and spa compliance applications and assessments, along with Council's outdoor dining approvals program. Known for her approachable nature and commitment to helping people, she enjoys working with residents and businesses to guide them through Council processes and deliver positive outcomes for the community.

Amelia Agusi - Certification Support Officer

Amelia previously worked in the private building industry, working on off-the-plan residential and commercial developments before joining Inner West Council as a Building Certification Support Officer. She is currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Building Surveying and is working towards becoming a Building Surveyor. In her role, she supports the Building Certification Team with application assessments, customer service, administrative processes, and assisting customers with certification enquiries. Amelia is passionate about the built environment, enjoys helping people navigate the certification process, and is committed to developing her knowledge and skills within the building industry
