Business waste
Collection of business waste varies depending on the area your business is in.
Inner West Council – West (former Ashfield Council area)
All businesses are required to have a waste collection service
Inner West Council offers a garbage and recycling collection service for businesses located in the West (former Ashfield Council area).
Council can provide
- one or more 120L garbage-only service
- one or more 240L garbage-only service
- one or more 240L recycling service
Waste collection options
- weekly garbage collection on your collection day
- twice a week garbage collection on your collection dayand choose your additional day on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday
- or three times a week garbage collection on your collection day and two additional days on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- recycling bins are emptied fortnightly on your collection day only.

To apply for a business waste service please fill out an application form:
Conditions for Council's business waste service
- No liquids or hot ashes are permitted in the bins
- Bins must not exceed 70 kilograms in weight. As a general rule, a bin is too heavy if you cannot lift the front of the bin with one hand.
- Bins should be left out after 6pm on the day prior to collection and returned to the property within 12 hours of being emptied.
- Lids must be down on the bins.
- All bins must be stored on the property when not out for collection.
- Make sure you are placing the correct items into your garbage and recycling bin

All businesses are required to have a waste collection service. Inner West Council offers a garbage collection service for businesses located in the North (former Leichhardt Council area).
Council can provide:
- one or more 120L garbage service
- one or more 240L garbage service

- Businesses can choose their collection day from Monday to Friday
- Bins can be emptied more than once a week

Inner West Council – South (former Marrickville Council)
Inner West Council does not provide waste services for businesses in the former Marrickville Council area.
Businesses are required to hire a contractor to remove their waste and must ensure that all private bins are kept inside their property. We strongly encourage businesses to sort their waste and have recyclable materials collected separately. For a list of services and recycling options, visit Planet Ark's recycling directory.
