Sourcing 100% renewable electricity

As of July 2022, Council is powered by 100% renewable electricity following a landmark energy deal between 25 Councils and three NSW solar farms – Moree, Hillston and Nevertire. The supply builds on the success of Council’s previous electricity agreement which included 25% renewable energy from Moree Solar Farm.

Inner West Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and adopted a Climate and Renewables Strategy with aims to become carbon neutral and supplied by 100% renewable electricity by 2025. The current electricity agreement delivers on the key 100% renewable target early and will more than halve Council’s carbon footprint.
