'Alchemy' to be made at Chrissie Cotter Gallery
Thursday 22 October 2020
A collaborative exhibition showcasing textiles, ceramics, painting, printmaking and mixed-media collage is the next to feature at Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery.
Alchemy features works from artists Deborah Barrett, Jo Day and Ann Rattey.
According to Ann, “The exhibition will focus on the process of reclaiming, reworking and renewing to extend and bring new life to materials discovered, found or inherited.
“The process challenges the artists to create unexpected and unique artworks highlighting their own individual approach,” Ann said.
Deborah says that her work is influenced by her travels and “crosses cultural divides to present a whimsical celebration of the sacred in the everyday.”
Ann describes her work as “deconstructed ready-mades that she slashes and rips before radically stitching to create wearable and mixed media artwork.”
Jo creates accessories and artworks. She explains that she “embellishes fabric by painting, stitching, beading and collaging to construct intricate and abstract works.”
