Nominations are open for 2019 Built Environment Awards
Wednesday, 1 August, 2018
Nominations are now open for the Inner West Built Environment Awards
2019 that celebrate the local area’s rich cultural and architectural
heritage.
Council is specifically seeking imaginative and sensitive re-adaptions
and renovations for the Marrickville Medal, and creative eco-friendly
buildings for the Design Award.
The Inner West Built Environment Awards Marrickville Medal for
Conservation – which has been awarded annually since 1995 – recognises
building works that have positive conservation outcomes. This could
include preservation, restoration, reconstruction, adaptation or
interpretation.
The more recent Sustainable Design Award celebrates sustainable building
design and practice in the Inner West local government area.
And the popular Urban Photography Competition encourages photographers
of all ages and abilities to engage with the Inner West urban landscape.
The inner west local government area is full of uniquely interesting
places, spaces, and details which often do evoke creative photographic
responses.
All the winners in the above categories will be chosen by independent
panels of experts and specialists in the fields of heritage,
architecture, photography, and sustainable design.
This year’s Built Environment Awards were hosted on Saturday, 5 May 2018 at the Kirkbride Theatre, Sydney College of the Arts.
Finalists from these 2018 Awards will be exhibited at an exhibition
opening today (Wednesday 1 August) that runs 1-29 August during library
hours at Leichhardt Library located at the Piazza Level - Italian Forum,
23 Norton St, Leichhardt.
