New lane in St Peters named

Wednesday 13 December 2017

Inner West Council has voted to call a new lane in St Peters ‘Lata Lane’, Inner West Mayor, Darcy Byrne announced today.

The lane was created as a result of a redevelopment runs between Grove and Alfred Streets and perpendicular to Albion and Rolfe lanes in St Peters.

“The name was chosen in memory of Zois Prillis, a local resident who migrated from Lata, a small village in Greece,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Mr Zois Prillis was well known in the area for over 40 years and was instrumental to the rezoning of the site from industrial to residential use, but unfortunately died before the development completed.

“It is fitting that we acknowledge and pay tribute to the many waves of Greek migrants that have helped to shape our local area.”

He said council has endorsed the name following a public consultation period in October this year.
