Claim the Stage and More
Tuesday 14 November 2017
Spark Youth Theatre, an initiative of Inner West Council, will present a short performance festival by young people in late November.
Claim the Stage and More was developed by an ensemble of fourteen young people aged 12-18 from Sydney’s inner west.
Spark Youth Theatre's short performance festival is back “with a twist of lemon and cheeky subversion,” said Spark’s Artistic Director Chris Dunstan who, with local theatre maker Carly Young, facilitated the weekly workshops from mid-October.
“In just six weeks, the talented fourteen young people developed their very own short creative works, which will be woven together to create an immersive and interactive festival experience,” Chris said.
The ensemble is comprised of : Francesco Buda, Sebastian Cutcherwirth, Hao Dang, William Devine, Alexander Hodgson, Vincent Li, Josie Merrick, Norina Monden, Essence Nock, Lily-Rose Raposo, Justin Schoonbergen, ZoeTaylor, Darby Thomas & Markus Wilson
“I can’t pinpoint the best part of being involved. I’ve enjoyed the whole experience of getting to understand different perspectives of performance, learning new skills and expanding my horizon.
“The people are great, everyone gets along well and when it comes to the night, we will perform to our full potential,” said ensemble member Francesco Buda, 16, of Croydon Park, currently in Year 10 at Ashfield Boys High School.
Spark Youth Theatre provides meaningful and accessible creative opportunities for young people aged 12-24 in the inner west.
The workshops and programs centre around developing skills in theatre and performance, while empowering young people to be confident, creative and to connect with their community.
