Inner West Supper Club

We are a community passionate about exploring creative ways of cooking, preserving and planning for delicious meals with the aim of reducing food waste.

The average Australian household (yes, that’s your household!) discards around 1 in every 5 bags of groceries purchased, which equates to about $2,500 per year. With our busy lifestyles and current price increases, taking action to plan meals, approach leftovers differently and store food properly is not only a great way to save money but also a way to save time in the long run.

Join us at the Inner West Supper Club and discover how even the busiest and most reluctant cooks can learn to enjoy being in the kitchen and reduce food waste!

Workshops and training

Before you come to one of these workshops, make sure you fill out the pre-survey. Please use the same email address to fill out the pre-survey and to register to the event.

All winners for the prizes below will be randomly selected.
Only Inner West Council residents will be eligible for a prize.
Council will contact the winners to verify their details, including proof of address.

Cheese plater from Radish Events

Answering the pre-survey will give you an entry to win a $240 voucher for a small cheese plate from Radish Events.
The first winner drawn will receive the cheese plater.
The competition ends on 10 October 2022 at 11.59 PM AEST. Winners will be notified the week starting 10 October 2022. If the winner does not respond within one week, another winner will be selected.
Only one entry per resident is allowed.
The winner must contact Radish Events to redeem the voucher and arrange a pickup date.
The voucher will be valid for two months. After that date, the prize will be no longer available

$100 voucher from Cornersmith Cooking School

Answering the pre-survey will give you an entry to win one of two $100 vouchers for the Cornersmith Cooking School.
The second and third winners drawn will receive a $100 voucher each for Cornersmith Cooking School.
The competition ends on 10 October 2022 at 11.59 PM AEST. Winners will be notified the week starting 10 October 2022. If the winner does not respond within one week, another winner will be selected.
Only one entry per resident is allowed.
The winner must contact Cornersmith Cooking School to redeem the voucher and book a class. Additional costs will be at the expense of the winner.
The voucher will be valid for three years. After that date, the prize will be no longer available.

$100 voucher from Alfalfa House

Answering two post-surveys will give you an entry to win one of two $100 vouchers for Alfalfa House produce.
The competition ends on 28 November 2022 at 9 am AEST. If the winner does not respond within one week, another winner will be selected.
Only one entry per resident is allowed.
The winner will have to pick up the gift voucher from Alfalfa House. Additional costs will be at the expense of the winner.
The voucher will be valid for one year. After that date, the prize will be no longer available.

Takeaway stainless steel containers

Coming to the Save Time, Save Food Workshop 1: Creative meal planning will give you the chance to give 1 of 5 takeaway stainless steel containers.
Winners will be announced during the workshop and prizes will be given away at the workshop.

Dinner at Refettorio OzHarvest Sydney

Coming to the Save Time, Save Food Workshop 2: Creative cooking with leftovers will give you an entry to win a dinner for two people at Refettorio Oz Harvest Sydney.
The winner will be announced the week after the workshop.
The winner will have to contact Oz Harvest to redeem the voucher and book a class. Additional costs will be at the expense of the winner.
The voucher will be valid for three months. After that date, the prize will be no longer available.

Use it all Cornersmith books

Coming to the Save Time, Save Food Workshop 3: Creative cooking and food storage tricks will give you the chance to give 1 of 5 Use it all books from Cornersmith.
Winners will be announced during the workshop and prizes will be given at the workshop.

All winners of the prizes below will be randomly selected.
All survey respondents, regardless of the Council area they reside in, are eligible for the prizes below.
Winners will be contacted via the email address they provide when filling out the survey.

More information

We partnered with Central Queensland University (CQU) to run the Inner West Supper Club. This is part of a research project to evaluate the effectiveness of a suite of interventions designed to increase the take-up of food waste reduction behaviours in households.

Answering survey on food habits is the first step to get involved. You will get access to educational information and workshops on food waste.
