Artist Bio
Paul Rhodes is an Australian Animation Director, Illustrator and Artist. Paul has produced work for MTV, Adult Swim, Matty Matherson, Apple Arcade and many more.

Artists statement & inspiration
Paul is looking forward to the day we can control our computers with our brains. No more mouse or computer tablets or limbs will be necessary.
"I like the idea of lying down on the couch with my eyes closed drawing a picture of a funny character with my mind as I fall asleep. And I love the idea of blurring the line between dreaming and creating".
Cupco is a huge inspiration. Paul remembers discovering his work 10 plus years ago. "Walking into his exhibition was just straight up fun/good vibes. Art that can transport you back in time and make you feel like a 15y/o kid again is sacred. He’s out here making truly original hilarious work".
Paul likes things that are fresh and funny. Making someone laugh or feel funny is more important then mastering a craft or having great skill. He loves the Japanese art movement Heta-uma which directly translates to ‘bad but good’ in reference bad at technique but good style.

Luke Temby (aka CUPCO) and Paul Rhodes (Faux Par) present a fun filled world of art, animation and sport at Chrissie Cotter Gallery as they collaborate on their exhibitional bonanza : Ping Pong!! The back and forth nature of this collaboration brings to mind the most dizzying World Championship that you could ever imagine!
Artlovers of all ages will enjoy the intersection of the artists work as they explore a variety of mediums in their colourful signature styles. Marvel at the mix of animation, robotics, beading and sewing and fun activities for the whole family! Wonder at the complexity and the simplicity and then get involved in some Ping Pong related activities to win prizes and make friends. (Please note: actual Ping Pong will not be available - only Ping Pong related activities!)
CUPCO and Faux Par are Sydney artists who share a love of pop culture, bright colours and modern art - come and share their world and enjoy Ping Pong related activities.
CUPCO and Faux Par will also be offering a free zine (while stocks last) on the opening night and will be giving insight into their artistic practises with demonstrations of “Robot Arm” ™ drawing. (Reminder: actual Ping Pong will not be available - only Ping Pong related activities!)
