Artists biography

Elham Marvi came to Australia five years ago from Iran. She has been passionate about art since she was a child and continues to incorporate art and creativity into her daily life. Elham is a multidisciplinary artist spanning doll making, crafts, painting, collage and event design / artistic direction. Elham has been involved with Council programming initially through the Community Refugee Welcome Centre where she has run workshops, managed the artistic direction of the Persian Coffee House for EDGE Balmain 2019 and styled the recent International Women's Day at Petersham Town Hall.

الهام مروی هستم و پنج سال پیش از ایران به استرالیا آمدم. از زمان کودکی ام، همیشه به هنر علاقه داشتم، و همیشه هنر و خلاقیت را به اشکال مختلف در زندگیروزمره ام به کار می بردم ‌‌و می برم. به عنوان یک هنرمند، هیچگاه خود را به یک فرم هنری محدود نکرده ام، در واقع از فرم های گوناگونی از جمله عروسک سازی وکلاژ تا نقاشی و دیزاین استفاده کرده ام تا آثار هنری خلق کنم. کار من در منطقه اینر وست سیدنی از طریق همکاری با «مرکز خوش آمدگویی به اجتماع وپناهندگان» آغاز شد، من در آنجا کارگاه های هنری برگزار کرده ام و همچنین مدیر گروه دیزاین قهوه خانه در فستیوال ادج بوده ام. علاوه بر آن ، دیزاین روز جهانی زن شهرداری اینر وست امسال به عهده من بوده است.

Elham believes artists create based on their emotion and inner voice. "Design is a combination of colours, items, forms and materials that surrounds every individual and I have always endeavored to create an artwork using materials I find around myself. This gives me motivation and courage to achieve what I do not have through what I have. In my view, artwork springs from inside of every individual and my work style reflects my lifestyle these days. Instability and my continuous struggle for certainty have a huge impact on how I express myself through my artworks. Hope for a better future is another influential element.

And now for me, art is not only a reflection, but it is also a recital, retelling of the stories that are shaped by the essence of my mental images, and my artworks are created as a result of my lifetime of looking around and exploring" (Elham Marvi 2020).

هنرمند کسی است که با توجه به حس و حالش می‌تواند هنری را خلق کند .
دیزاین تلفیقی از رنگ ها ، اجسام ، اشکال و موادی است که در پیرامون ما قرار گرفته و من همیشه سعی کرده ام که با وجود چیزی که دارم یک اثری را خلق کنم و اینکار به من انگیزه می دهد تا با نداشته ها به داشته ها برسم .
به نظرم یک اثر هنری از درون هر فرد نشات می‌گیرد و این شیوه از کار من به سبک زندگی امروزم نزدیک است چون در موقعیتی هستم که با وجود اینکه استیبل نیستمبا زندگی دست و پنجه نرم می‌کنم و با امید به آینده زندگی را گذران می‌کنم .
و اکنون هنر برای من بازگویی است نه بازنمایی ، بازگویی تجربیاتی که از ذات تصویر ذهنی ام مایه میگیرند و این کارها پیداست که برآیند عمری است که در نگاهکردن و شناختن طی کرده‌ام .

هنگامیکه کودک بودم همیشه از دیدن تکامل پروانه به وجد می آمدم، اینکه یک پروانه چگونه خود را از یک شرایط سخت به آزادی مطلق و زیبایی بی غایت می رساند. واین الهام بخش کارهای هنری من شد. همچنین پیام من در کارهایم «امید» است.

در حال حاضر من تلاش می کنم تا راهای بیشتری را برای استفاده از مواد بازیافت برای تولید آثار هنری در فرم های مختلف پیدا کنم.

Current work and inspiration

I try to communicate messages about HOPE through my works. I am exhibiting work for the Refugee Week virtual art exhibition on Inner West Council's website.

When I was child. I was amazed by seeing evolution of butterflies, how they have a journey from a difficult situation to the complete liberation and absolute beauty.
It has become an inspiration in my artistic practices. At the moment, I am trying to focus more on how to use reusable materials to create different artworks across different art forms.
