Artists biography

ARTeConnect partners, Tara Morelos and Liz Bradshaw collaborate with a network of artists, designers, educators and social entrepreneurs who share their passion for working creatively with technology. Together they produce unique art experiences and education programs drawing on the hidden potential of wearable technologies and interactive media for creative inspiration. 

Our rapidly changing world demands adaptability, creativity and critical thinking; a strong sense of social responsibility and an active engagement with science and the environment. By acknowledging the role creativity and the arts play in our lives and in our education, we acknowledge what it is to be human. Artists and designers have a unique and valuable role to play in connecting communities and shaping the world we live in.

Current work and inspiration

We’re working on two projects for Edge Ashfield.

Studio FASHtech engages students from local high schools with art, fashion and technology to create tech-infused costumes for a choreographed parade. The designs are inspired by global issues like racism, poverty, pollution and gender.

Also the ARTeConnect team is building MoonTunnel – a movement-activated bamboo structure which interactively flashes with light and sound.

Students will parade their costumes through the tunnel and there’ll be sound art and dance performance. The tunnel will available for the public to experience at other times during the Moon Festival.

Musician, Nick Wishart from Toy Death and dancer Effie Lmn will be performing on September 13 with the MoonTunnel in the forecourt of the Ashfield Town Hall from 5 - 6pm and throughout the night at intervals.

Students from Dulwich High School of Visual Art and Design, Fort Street High and our school holiday masterclass with perform their costumes shortly after 6pm on 13 September for Edge Ashfield.
