With the ink still drying on a deal with Mirror Music Group (represent the likes of Charlie Collins and Gang Of Youths), and their latest single Pray For Rain still fresh in the minds of listeners, Inner West indie rockers The Sunday Estate took to the stage of Wayward’s for two sold out shows.
Both early and late shows were kicked off by opening band Classic. Classic are an all girl rock-pop group who combined keyboard melodies, driving bass-lines and catchy vocal harmonies to well and truly warm-up the steadily filling room.
As the time approached 10:45, the upstairs of Newtown’s Bank Hotel was full and anticipation was building. Kicking off the early show by breaking a string one song in, frontman Conor O’Reilly managed to push through and dispel any nerves taking full flight as the late show came around.
The band emerged welcomed by warm applause. The Sunday Estate has a magnetism and professionalism that’s hard to ignore, this was evident as they played song after song without a hitch.
Crowd favourites “I Don’t Wanna Be Alone” and “Pray For Rain” had the punters singing along and struggling to resist the temptation to get up from their seats and dance. Playing new, unreleased material, the crowd also got a peak behind the curtain of what’s next for the band.
Adding to the buzz, frontman Conor strolled into the crowd, past patrons and even took a seat (very COVIDSafe) while playing one of their slower tracks. As a band no doubt on a one way road to bigger and better things, the whole room left feeling content and quietly optimistic that they’ve got in early.
Inner West Locals ‘The Sunday Estate’ are an act to keep your eyes on and ears out for in the near future…
