A day of interactive dance, workshops and new commissions! Come on a journey through the ancient past and into the multicultural now. Seven cultures performing their dance in the round to one beat, a fast paced, non-stop Dance Spectacular – a show of unity in diversity. 

In Movement features Aruna Gandhi’s new work Pingala, which brings the tradition of Bharatanatyam dance to new heights with Sumathi Krishnan (voice) and John Napier (cello). The transformative ‘Pingala’ morphs into an explosion of energy featuring six cultures (Indigenous Australian, Balkan, Indonesian and beyond) dancing to one beat in our ‘Dance Spectacular’—a fast-paced, non-stop show of unity performed in the round.

With the roots of hip hop culture firmly embedded in diversity and in open community participation, this dance showcase will welcome all. 
At the Inner West Block Party, you can expect to enjoy a  4 x 4 dance battle, which celebrates a global culture that connects diverse cultures across the world.

4.30pm. Watch out for a sneak peak of the Inner West Block Party dancers as they rehearse outside in the Ashfield Civic Precinct Area.
