Worship Queer Collective celebrates 3 years of their Queer Asian Excellence movement with Worship B’day: Day & Night Festival.

Taking place at Inner West Pride Centre (fka Newtown Town Hall), Worship B'day will include workshops, music, performances, food and a community fashion show.

Featuring some of Sydney’s most influential and up and coming Queer Asian/BIPOC artists and trailblazers, this event is a safe space for Queers, Asians, BIPOC, friends and allies.

This is a free event but donations are highly encouraged. We are a community and artist led collective run by volunteers. 100% of your contribution will go towards future projects and our artists.

1pm             Grant Writing 101 with Dr Naomi Koh Belic and Dyan Tai - A hands on, interactive workshop that will cover fundamental grant writing skills. This is also an opportunity for attendees to review successful grant applications. Workshop is open to all levels and experience with priority given to BIPOC, LGBTQI+ independent artists. Drag Drag Workshop by Ivory Glaze and Star Gayze - Get ready with Ivory Glaze (Drag Race Down Under) and Star Gayze (Creature Preacher)… watch how they put together their signature mug from start to finish. Suitable for all levels and experience. You are required to BYO makeup. Attendees will be sent a list of recommended products. Workshop is open to all levels and experience with priority given to BIPOC, LGBTQI+ independent artists. BIPOC Creatives Community Panel
Hosted by Dyan Tai with guest speakers Jamaica Moana, Kween G & 3Awadi - speakers share their experiences of navigating challenges as BIPOC creatives in the evolving arts and music industry in Australia. Tips and advice on overcoming challenges especially for new and emerging artists.

8pm      Opening speeches
8.30pm      "Threads" Community Fashion Show curated by Genesis Mansilongan & hosted by Jamaica Moana. Handpicked models will strut the community catwalk adorned in what represents and pays tribute to their Queer Asian lineage. Models: LinhQu, Von, Rohan, Bonnie, Marvrick, Juno, Mami Mai-Tai, Taj, Fried Pork Chop, London, Arsh, Yvonne, Salem, Nury.
9pm       Special Performance by Club Chrome & Shyamla from Bindi Bosses

  • There is an accessible gender neutral toilet available in the foyer. Please ask staff for the key to this bathroom

Transport and parking

  • Bus: We are a 20 minute bus ride from Central. There are usually buses every 5-8 mins from Stand L at Central Station Railway Square. Take the 422, 423, 428, or 430 buses and get off at the Newtown Station King St stop.
  • Train: We are a 2 minute trip (110m) from Newtown Train Station. When you exit the station, cross King St and Enmore Rd to arrive at Pride Square.
  • Car: We do not have dedicated parking spots at Twenty10. There is some limited free 2-hour on-street parking. Paid timed parking is available at the Newtown Central Car Park and also Dendy Cinemas Care Park.
  • Taxi/Rideshare: A more accessible drop off location is 281 Australia St, the small street behind the Pride Centre to avoid the busy traffic of the main road.
  • Bike: There are several public bike racks available to the left of the main entrance next to a big tree.
