Sourcing 100% renewable electricity from NSW solar farms

Inner West Council is now powered with 100% renewable electricity following a landmark energy deal between 25 Councils and three NSW solar farms – Moree, Hillston and Nevertire. The arrangement builds on the success of Council’s previous electricity agreement which sourced 25% renewable energy from Moree Solar Farm.

The over 16 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy powers all Council facilities including aquatic centres, sports fields, libraries, and other venues. The switch to renewable electricity reduces Council's annual carbon emissions by over 13,000 tonnes (CO2e).

Inner West Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and targets to become carbon neutral and supplied by 100% renewable electricity by 2025. The current electricity agreement delivers on the key 100% renewable target early and more than halves Council’s current carbon footprint.
