School road safety program
Inner West Council has developed a safety around schools program designed to promote safe practices for parents in school zones.
Illegal parking puts children’s lives at risk
We are inviting all schools in the Inner West Council Area to participate in the "Illegal parking puts children's lives at risk" campaign by using a range of resources to help promote the safety of children around schools.
Council and the Police currently take a 'zero tolerance' approach. Council Parking Officers and Police regularly patrol schools across the area.
This program is designed to reinforce that Road Safety is everyone’s
responsibility and to stop the practice of illegal parking in schools zones.
Resources
The Road Safety team has developed a range of information resources for schools to share with their families.
The materials are designed to inform parents of the latest road rules, guidelines and parking alternatives, so everyone can keep our kids safe in School Zones.
Schools can use this information in school newsletters and on their websites or as printed handouts for families.
There is also corflute signage available to place near the front gate entrance at your school.
Working with Council's Road Safety Projects Officer, schools will be provided with:
- Parent flyer A5
- Parking Officer Assistance
- Promotional Downloads
- Road Safety Audit
- Corflute signage
