Planned Council tree works
Trees are one of our most important natural assets.
Inner West Council conducts cyclical maintenance of its street trees. This includes pruning works to improve tree health and structure, remove deadwood, and allow for clearance for buildings, pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Removal of trees is seen as the last option - Council will always look for other management options first. Unfortunately, in some cases and due to risk to public and property, removal may be the only option. Any tree that is identified for removal will have a notice affixed to the tree.
Please note that Council does not prune trees for power line clearance. Ausgrid is responsible for pruning street trees in these circumstances and sets out the required clearance for its power lines. Visit the Ausgrid power line clearance page for more information and planned trimming dates.

Location: Kendrick Park, Adjacent 30 Cook Street Tempe
Tree species: Eucalyptus saligna
Reason for removal: The tree is being removed as it poses an unacceptable risk to people and property given the history and ongoing likelihood of limb failure due to their form and wind exposure.
Replacement planting: Council will plant a replacement tree as part of our ongoing planting programs. |

Location: Mort Bay Park (Opposite 3 Mckell St)
Tree species: Eucalyptus grandis
Reason for removal: Tree exhibits poor overall condition, with excessive epicormic growth.

Date: 20 December 2024
Location: 8 Fairmount Street, Dulwich Hill
Tree species: Melaleuca quinquenervia (Broadleaved Paperbark)
Reason for removal: The tree is impacting the surrounding infrastructure where the root interaction cannot be mitigated without adversely impacting the tree's stability.
Replacement planting: Council will plant a replacement tree as part of our ongoing planting programs.

Tree species: Melaleuca quinquenervia (Broadleaved Paperbark)
Reason for removal: The tree is impacting private property where the root interaction cannot be mitigated without adversely impacting the tree's stability.
Replacement planting: Council will plant a replacement tree as part of our ongoing planting programs.

Location: 1 Ranger Road, Croydon
Tree species: Wallangarra White Gum (Eucalyptus scoparia)
Reason for removal: Tree has suffered significant structural damage because of storm events. The tree poses a foreseeable and unacceptable risk and will be removed by 28 January 2025.
Replacement planting: Council will plant a replacement tree as part of our ongoing planting programs.

Location: 11 Ranger Road, Croydon
Tree species: Wallangarra White Gum (Eucalyptus scoparia)
Reason for removal: Tree has damage to 60% of its root crown and lower trunk with decline of roots on roadside. The tree poses a foreseeable and unacceptable risk and will be removed by 28 January 2025.
Replacement planting: Council will plant a replacement tree as part of our ongoing planting programs. |

Location: 18 Ranger Road, Croydon
Tree species: Wallangarra White Gum (Eucalyptus scoparia)
Reason for removal: Tree has a compromised structure due to decay in the main trunk in the upper canopy on footpath side. The tree poses a foreseeable and unacceptable risk and will be removed by 28 January 2025.
