Council announces successful 2020 grants

Eighty-nine Inner West projects have received more than $500,000 in Council funding, as part of the Inner West Council 2020 Grant Program.

Council has a range of grants to enable the community to develop projects and programs to address local needs.

The grants are divided into Individual Artists, Arts Projects, Community History and Heritage*, Community Wellbeing, Environment*, Multicultural and Recreation*.

Some of the funded projects include:

The Annette Kellerman Project received $5,000 for a free music theatre performance celebrating the life of Marrickville icon, Annette Kellerman, at Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre

Diversity Arts Australia received $10,000 for I Am Not A Virus. Ten Asian Australian artists will be commissioned to respond to COVID-19 racism

Inner West Icons podcast received $10,000 over two years. Hosted by a historian, each episode presents history through, oral histories, community stories, sound effects and music

Mood Active Association received $5,000 for a four-week ‘wellbeing workout’, combining education and exercise and targeted at people suffering from mood disorders including anxiety and depression

The Salvation Army received $10,000 over two years for Good Egg Garden, an environmental and eco-educational chicken and sustainable garden project, engaging children experiencing trauma of family violence

Queer Lunar New Year 2021: Year of the Ox received $5,000 for a multi-disciplinary event melding traditional oral storytelling traditions with contemporary experimental innovations

Marrickville Football Club received $8,200 over two years for Kick On for Women, an introductory program for women who have never played soccer before but who want to stay active and have fun with friends
