Midjuburi Precinct Creative Trails
Tuesday, 23 July 2019
Artist, arts workers and craftspeople in Marrickville, Sydenham, Tempe, St Peters, Dulwich Hill and Lewisham will throw open their doors for the next EDGE Creative Trails.
Forty studios, exhibition spaces, galleries, artist hubs, craft workspaces, ateliers and art and craft retailers will take part on Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 August, 10am-5pm.
Creative Trails are an opportunity to discover where art is made, explore hidden artist spaces and take part in a talk, workshop or demonstration.
Trails can be self-guided by downloading a map. Guided tours are also available to take people behind the scenes, visit studios and meet artists.
EDGE Creative Trails is the opening weekend for EDGE Sydenham, celebrating urban artists and cultural life, bringing together the industrial and creative arts industries of Sydenham showcasing where art is made, who is making it and why it matters.
The EDGE Creative Trail in Midjuburi Precinct (Marrickville area) is an Inner West Council initiative which shines a light on the area’s vital creative – but vulnerable – creative businesses.
EDGE Creative Trails precedes the EDGE Sydenham ‘activation’ which will highlight the cultural ecosystem in the Marrickville area.
As well as visual art, Midjuburi Creative Trails also spotlights practitioners in jewellery, art glass, felt and textiles, ceramics, woodwork and bookbinding.
