Celebrate an endless summer at Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre

Swim season at Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre has been extended for a month until 28 April.

To celebrate, an ‘Endless Summer’ family fun day will be held at the pool on Saturday 13, April with plenty of activities both in and out of the water.

Earlier this month, Council voted to increase the swim season at FDAC following a record number of swimmers this year, partly due to the closure of Ashfield Aquatic Centre for renovation but also due to the record heat this summer as well as the increasing popularity of the pool.

Stanmore Ward Councillor Anna York said she has been inundated by feedback from the community with regard to extending the pool’s swimming season this year.

“You only need to visit one of our pools on a hot day to know how much our community loves them,” she said. “I am very pleased we have been able to extend the season for a further month.”

Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne said all of Council’s pools have enjoyed strong enrolment numbers this swimming season.

“It’s really pleasing to see such an increase in patronage at Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre, which is on track to have 80,000 visits over the summer - that’s almost 30 per cent higher than the previous year,” said Mayor Byrne.

“We want the whole community to come along to the family fun day and take advantage of this well-loved open air pool in Petersham Park before it closes for winter.”

Theme: dress with a touch of ‘Tropicana’- prize for the best dressed

Entertainment: prize giveaways, face painting, kids balloons, inflatable pool obstacle and a sausage sizzle between 9-11am.
