Artists invited to take part in EDGE Creative Trails
Tuesday, 16 April 2019
Applications are invited now from studios, galleries, and artist-run initiatives (ARIs) to take part in the Midjuburi (Marrickville) Creative Trails weekend on Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 August, 2019.
Each year, art spaces in the Inner West open their doors to the public for what was formerly Inner West Open Studio Trail (IWOST).
Creative Trails 2019 is an opportunity for the public to engage with the Inner Wests’ thriving independent arts scene, to meet local artists and makers, view art in progress and purchase art at studio prices.
Creative Trails are conducted over four precincts at different times of the year.
Already, Gulgadya Precinct (Leichhardt) Creative Trail was held over the weekend of 6 - 7 April.
Hundreds of people spent the weekend discovering art in hidden artists’ studios, independent galleries and quirky artist run initiatives, and taking part in various workshops.
Rita Orsini, of Ateliers Orsini in Dulwich Hill said it was “fantastic to have split the Open Studios over the year”.
“It allows us, artists, to meet other wonderful artists and see their artworks and workshops,” she said.
“I have been part of MOST (Marrickville Open Studio Trail) and IWOST for many years and intend to be part of EDGE this year.
“I will apply for both Midjuburi (Marrickville) Creative Trails in August and the Newtown/Ashfield/Summer Hill wards in November, as my studio is on the borders of these areas,” Rita said.
“Thank you Inner West Council for coordinating such a great program.”
Applications from studios, ARIs and creatives in the Midjuburi (Marrickville) precinct are open now, closing Monday, 13 May 2019.

Damun/Djarrawunang Precinct trail (Stanmore/Ashfield Ward) is scheduled for 9-10 November and Baludarri Precinct (Balmain Ward) trail for late November.
