Celebrate BluesFest Rock legend Ross Wilson will headline the popular BluesFest as it returns this month to Leichhardt as a free family friendly music event with a relaxed casual atmosphere. Part of Council’s Sunset Series of free outdoor twilight music concerts, this year’s BluesFest will be held on Sunday 25 March from 3pm to 6pm. It is the perfect event to pack a picnic lunch and spread out in the park while listening to some laid back Blues tunes. The venue War Memorial Park itself has a natural amphitheatre as well as a recently upgraded playground. Ross Wilson is one of Australia’s most awarded, respected and well-known artists, with no less than 26 ARIA Top 40 hits to his credit. Ross was the legendary front man of band Daddy Cool, whose number one anthem Eagle Rock smashed all previous sales records in Australia. In 1977, he then formed Mondo Rock, delivering 80s hits ‘Cool World’, ‘State of the Heart’, ‘Chemistry’, ‘No Time’, and ‘Come Said the Boy’. Joining Ross Wilson at BluesFest this year will be two local inner west talents in Bridie King and Mary Jane Guiney serving up some cool sounds. BluesFest has attracted some of Australia’s most talented musicians including Diesel, Wendy Matthews, Mental as Anything and now the legendary Ross Wilson. Other concerts in the Sunset Series include Classics at Callan Park and Jazz in The Park Balmain, the latter that will be held in November 2018.
