Australia Day in Enmore Park
Inner West Council will host Australia Day in Enmore Park, with a stunning line-up of entertainment, food and activities.
The day commences with a Citizenship Ceremony, and announcement of Citizens of the Year.
The live entertainment includes the cast of ABC KIDS hugely popular SplashDance, and local Newtown Performing Arts High School band The Lazy Eyes, a four-piece that plays psychedelic/alternative music.
Also in the line-up are Sydney bands Eden’s March and Jellybean Jam.
Headliner act is Diesel, one of Australia's most gifted and successful musicians, who has had a stellar career for more than 25 years.
Kids will be kept busy with face painting stall, the Magic Yellow Bus, old-fashioned fair day games like egg and spoon races, an appearance by The Village Blacksmith and Australian Wildlife Display, jumping castle and giant slide, and obstacle course.
International food available on the day runs the gamut from Turkish gozleme, Spanish paella and garlic prawns, Portuguese grilled chicken and pastries and sweets, French crepes, and Chinese dumplings, BBQ Buns, noodles and San Choy Bow.
As well, other food stalls will sell the ever popular chips-on-a-stick, plus burgers, fairy floss, popcorn, and Serendipity ice cream.
Community groups and Council will also have stalls on the day. In particular, Inner West Council will be consulting with the community on Council’s Statement of Vision and Priorities.
The day finishes with a bang with the annual fireworks display at 8.45pm.
