All Things Inner West’ at Chrissie Cotter Gallery
The Australian birds, plants, flowers and people observed on “my bike rides around the Bay Run” are the subjects of a new exhibition at Inner West Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery.
All Things Inner West, by artist Angie McInterney-Goto, says her works convey a message of community, love of nature and the joy of simple pleasures.
She says she is inspired by the colour, light “and my interaction with my surroundings in places like The Bay Run area - that sense of escaping the everyday life of inner city living”.
“I have lived in the Inner West for over 20 years and till this day am constantly amazed and delighted with the birds, plants and flowers I observe in this beautiful area,” Angie said.
All the works are on canvas and in acrylic paint, aerosol and oil pastels.
“They represent my surroundings associated with my life in the inner west of Sydney.
“The concept is defined and specific as determined by geography and intent,” Angie said, adding that she admires the work of David Hockney, Brett Whitely, Jean Michael Basquiat and Rusudan Khizanishvili.
All Things Inner West is at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Pidcock Street Camperdown, Wednesday 1 February – Sunday 12 February.
Opening Wednesday 1 February, 9pm. All welcome
