2017 NSW Play Your Part Awards
Tuesday 29 August 2017
Inner West Council is supporting NSW National Child Protection Week, and will host the 2017 NSW Play Your Part Awards at the Hannaford Community Centre on Thursday 7 September.
Media are invited to attend.
The National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect’s (NAPCAN) Child Protection Week commences on Fathers Day, Sunday 3 September. The Week promotes three key messages:
- We ALL have a part to play in protecting ALL children
- Even small actions can help to improve a child’s future
- By building stronger communities, we are creating safer environments for our children
NAPCAN’s Play Your Part Awards - for inspiring prevention initiatives - recognise individuals, communities or organisations who have played a part in creating safer communities for children and young people.
In April this year, Inner West Council announced spending of more than $300,000 over four years to address domestic and family violence in the inner west.
Council partners with local community groups, organisations, networks and key national associations to deliver programs and initiatives that have previously yielded positive results. These include the Speak Out Awareness Raising Campaign, and White Ribbon Day.
With NAPCAN, Inner West Council assists in delivering:
- Love Bites, an interactive school-based domestic, family and relationship violence and sexual assault prevention education program
- Inner West Respectful Relationships Project community steering group to undertake community consultation and scope the development and implementation of the Inner West Respectful Relationships Project
