Footprints EcoFestival 2016 Set to Entertain
Footprints Ecofestival 2016 promises once again be a great community event packed full of entertainment as well as workshops and hands-on environment themed experiences.
Now in its sixth year, the much loved Festival returns to Whites Creek Valley Park Annandale on Sunday 21 August from 11am to 3pm, with a great sustainability inspired entertainment line-up for all ages.
The Jitterbugs ‘Green & Groovy Educational Children's show’ brings the garden and its magical world of bugs to the stage for families of all ages.
The Jitterbugs, with their intimate relationship with the Earth, share culture and wisdom of the plants and animals, offering a new way of living that is bright and colourful for our future generations.
They sing and dance with original recorded music and with live instruments and also share seeds and plants for the children to take home and plant.
Jitterbugs appear on the Footprints Eco Festival main stage from 11:50am-12:50pm.
There will also be a meet and greet and a workshop at the side of stage after the performance.
Other acts on the main stage include:
- The Yaama Boys who will perform traditional Aboriginal dance + smoking ceremony 11am-11:30am
- Ciao Magazine recycled fashion parade – 1:10pm-1:40pm
- The Maybes (local musicians Rozelle/Annandale) 2:00pm-2:50pm
Always a great community day out, there are also many ways to live the sustainable travel theme of the Footprints Ecofestival so festival goers should also consider walking, cycling or taking public transport to the event in tune with the sustainable theme driving the event.
The community bus will be doing a loop through the LGA and will no doubt help in this as well.
Festival goers looking to enlarge their personal transport options should also be in the draw to win a bicycle on the day – fill out a survey form from the Inner West Council stall to enter. The draw will take place on main stage at 3pm, but you must be present to walk away with the bicycle.
The EcoFestival is, as always, a waste wise event with organics recycling facilities available throughout the day. Sydney Water is also providing water bubblers so people should bring their own refillable bottles, which is part of being waste wise through reducing plastic bottles.
