2017 Citizens of the Year awards now open

Nominations are now open for Inner West Council’s 2017 Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, and Young Citizen of the Year.

Nominees should be inspirational role models, and have made outstanding contributions to the inner west community in any field.

To be eligible, nominees must be Australian citizens, and either a resident, student, worker or volunteer in the inner west local government area.

“Awards of these kinds are important, because they recognise the contribution made by people who are so often the unsung heroes of local communities,” said Administrator of Inner West Council Richard Pearson.

“They might demonstrate an active concern for the rights of others, or be someone who has displayed compassion, generosity or even bravery.

“These are the first Inner West Citizen of the Year awards, and I am very much looking forward to hearing about all the good work being done by our citizens,” Mr Pearson said.

The Citizens of the Year will be announced at Council’s Australia Day celebrations at Enmore Park on 26 January 2017.
