Inner West Council is inviting local artists to submit ideas for the exhibition of artworks at the Newtown ArtSeat and Chrissie Cotter Gallery and artist residency at Whites Creek Cottage in 2023.
Council’s award-winning ArtSeat is a permanent structure located in Newtown Square which provides local, emerging and established artists a space where experimental and non-commercial art can be showcased.
Incorporating public seating and lighting, the Art Seat is also a landmark meeting point in Newtown.
The Newtown ArtSeat is an initiative of Inner West Council, with support from Arts NSW and City of Sydney. Artworks by four artists or collaborators are exhibited each year.
Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery in Camperdown is a free gallery space available to emerging and established Inner West artists. Up to 23 artists will be selected to exhibit in the gallery space.
The Whites Creek Cottage Subsidised Studio Program is a 12 month residency offering two studio spaces in the Whites Creek Cottage at a low cost. This space is designated for visual artists and/ or craftspeople who have a focus on sustainability in their practice.
