Newtown Boarding house appeal update
Update on the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre appeal to raise funds to directly benefit the residents affected by the Boarding House fire in Albermarle Street Newtown.
After the Tuesday 15 March fire, residents were referred immediately to NNC for counselling, support and temporary accommodation.
Addison Road Community Organisation and Thread Together supplied food care packages and clothes.
The appeal raised $35,000 for the residents for their immediate needs and long term support including a bond for their next house, new furniture appliances and clothes.
Over the past few weeks the NNC team worked tirelessly to ensure the residents received the support they needed. Six of the survivors now have housing. The team is continuing to work with the residents until they have all been settled in their new homes.
Inner West Council and NNC thanks everyone who donated to the appeal.
