Building Song at Chrissie Cotter Gallery
Thursday 16 June 2022
Inner West Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery will host a site-specific two-week residency and world premiere performance, Building Song.
Gabrielle Bates, who investigates how we occupy, enchant, and relate to ‘place’, will collaborate with award winning composer Serge Stanely, and Aria and International World Music nominees Voices From The Vacant Lot.
They will explore the question, ‘Does a building have a voice?’ to produce a single immersive performance that “will expand the ears, mind and heart,” according to Gabrielle.
Visitors will experience the gallery as a living entity with its own unique voice, expressed aurally.
The project is supported by Inner West Council’s Artist Residency Program and fostered by Sydney Fringe Festival Covid-Response residency program in 2020.
Building Song is at Chrissie Cotter Gallery, Pidcock Street Camperdown.
The two-week residency runs from Tuesday 21 June – Monday 4 July and the performance is on Sunday 3 July, 3pm.
Everyone welcome.
