Aqueous Moments at Chrissie Cotter Gallery
Friday 12 August 2022
Photomedia artworks focusing on endangered waterways, wetlands and coastal hinterlands of Greater Sydney will feature next at Council’s Chrissie Cotter Gallery.
Aqueous Moments - Photomedia Explorations of Our Coast, a solo exhibition by Bernadette Smith, responds to “an artificial divide separating city dwellers from the surrounding landscape that sustains communities”.
Bernadette says her work is informed by her background in environmental activism.
“The exhibition includes macro shots and less familiar views of marine and inland waterways to highlight the intrinsic qualities of water and encourage a greater appreciation of our most precious resource.
“Water is essential for all life yet is so often taken for granted.
“My exhibition aims to raise awareness of the pressing need to protect our water supply and natural habitat from the risks posed by climate crisis and extractivism,” Bernadette said.
Exhibition: Thursday 18 August – Sunday 28 August, 11am - 4pm, or by appointment.
Opening Thursday 18 August, 6pm – 8pm. Featuring special guest speaker Sandy Edwards, curator and creative producer at Arthere.
Artist talk: Saturday 28 August, 2.30 pm
