Alaska the Husky reunited with her owner

On Friday 4 March, Inner West Council's Companion Animal Officers (CAOs) rescued a Husky named Alaska that got lost during recent storms/floods.

Many pets have been distressed due to the harsh weather conditions recently and this has led some animals to run away.

Alaska, who had only been adopted by her new family the day before, ran 3km through the streets of Petersham and Lewisham before being found by our CAO. The dog was found at a dead-end street amongst the mud and shrubbery.

She was eventually lured to safety with a gentle hand, and a cheeseburger.

After scanning the dog’s microchip, the CAO discovered that the chip was lacking the owners updated information.  After some swift sleuthing, the owner’s contact details were found.

Alaska was reunited with her relieved family. During the Husky’s escapades, Alaska sustained a minor leg injury.  Our CAOs referred the family to the Sydney University Vet Hospital and provided information on Vet Pay support.
