  • Title: Together We Planned (2023)
  • Artist: Sid Tapia
  • Wall size: 2.3 metres high by 4.2 metres wide
  • Location: 12 Tebbutt Street, Leichhardt

The street artwork takes up the side wall of an older-style, single-story, rendered brick cottage. Located on a busy corner, at traffic lights, a meter-high, brick wall wraps around the home. The property is mostly hidden by a large, lush hedge on one side and pavement trees to the right of the artwork. The house has a red tiled roof.

The work is larger-than-life, on a smooth, cream wall between an arched window and a recessed leadlight front door.

Four hands painted in photo realist style come together to support each other and an oversized, red, ladybird.

One adult hand from either side rests at the bottom, cupping and supporting the two smaller hands at the top of the pile. They are the hands of the four children who grew up in this house.

From the left, the largest wrist and hand is fair. Fingers gleam as though freshly washed. There are thin blue veins on the side of their pinkie finger and one bent knuckle. At right, the arm is bent at the elbow, a muscled and olive-toned forearm extending into the centre. Caught in the embrace, their fingers are angled upwards, palm hidden by the others. The neat, short nails are painted white.

A child's wrist crosses the wrist of each adult, one from either side, all hands meeting in the middle. A forearm is extending in from the right, the child's pale fingers entirely hidden by the grasp of the others.

A younger child's arm reaches in from our left. Their upturned palm rests at the top of the stack. A big, red, shiny ladybird covers most of the smallest child's palm and obscures their thumb. It faces our left.

The ladybird's domed back is adorned with imperfect back spots. In the shadow below its shell, three legs are in motion.

Its gleaming black head has yellow dashes imitating eyes; its real eyes are much smaller at the tip of its head, and its delicate, searching orange feelers are extended.

This is the end of the audio description.
