Community native plant nurseries

Inner West Council manages two community native plant nurseries: 

Marrickville Community Native Plant Nursery

The Marrickville Community Nursery is located at the Addison Road Centre, 142 Addison Road, Marrickville.

Mulch is available free of charge on a first come first served basis - bring your own container and tools to collect.

Our current operating hours are:

• Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon
• Saturdays, 10am to 1pm
• Sundays, 10am to 12 noon

Annandale Community Native Plant Nursery

The Annandale Community Nursery is located at 22 Wisdom Street, Annandale.

Our current opening hours are:

• Wednesdays, 10am to 1pm
• Fridays, 10am to 1pm

Volunteer

Staff and volunteers use locally sourced seed to propagate local native plant species. The plants are used to regenerate our Natural Areas in Council parks and reserves across the Inner West. The plants provide habitat for native wildlife including a number of threatened species that call the Inner West home.

Local native plants are generally easy to maintain and require less water and care than many non-native plants. This is because local native plants have adapted to the local area’s climate and other environmental conditions.

Becoming a nursery volunteer is a great way to learn new skills and contribute to providing habitat for native wildlife in the Inner West. Read the Nurseries Volunteer Duty Statement.
