Balmain Library update

Balmain Library will be closed from Monday 1 July due to renovation works.

The works are part of the current project to restore and future proof the building. We anticipate the library will reopen in early August.
Library works include fixing long-term damp and mould problems, repainting, creating a more accessible entry, recarpeting and installation of new shelves and furniture to make the library a better facility for our community.
The nearest libraries are:
78 Dalhouise Street, Haberfield

Piazza Level, Leichhardt Forum
23 Norton Street, Leichhardt

Babies and toddlers' programs take place at all of our branches.  View timetable here.

For reserved items
From 1 July you will be unable to collect items from Balmain Library. If you have items that become available while the library is closed, you will be contacted by our library team to extend the reservation and collect once the library reopens, or to choose an alternative library to collect from.

To return library items while the library is closed

The returns chute will remain open 24 hours per day, (there may be intermittent access issues due to working vehicles blocking access) and is located on the left end side of Balmain Town Hall.
