This site is dedicated to listing and recording the stories of those men who fought in World War One and capturing stories, ephemera and memorabilia from families, friends, loved ones and historical enthusiasts. It attempts to document the experience of not just the men but also the women of the Inner West, who held full-time employment and raised families while their men went to war. The AIF Project (UNSW Canberra) database lists 14,280 enlistments of individuals who went to war who either lived, were born or enlisted in the Inner West. We have endeavoured to include as many as we can find on this website. The numbers reach closer to 15,000 once are added members of the Australian Flying Corps, the Royal Australian Navy, nurses and other medical staff.
