Henson Park Upgrade
Project summary
- Project description: Provide sporting facilities within the park to promote the use of the park for high level competition sport. Update and upgrade facilities with:
- Upgrade the turf and underlay soil to suit elite standard sport
- Install a storm water harvesting and treatment system to reduce the use of town water for irrigation
- Rearrange the storm water drainage network upstream of, and across, the field
- Install new field drainage system, including recycling of water
- Upgrade irrigation system
- Rectify the long-term sinkhole in the centre of the field.
- Project address: 22 Centennial St, Marrickville with the main vehicular access from Sydenham Rd opposite Marrickville High School
- Progress: completed except for Sand Slit drains
- Sports field works completed.
- Stormwater harvesting works completed
- Installation of sand slit drains on the oval in late this year.
- Expected completion date: Completed (December 21) except for Sand Slit drains
- Budget: $2.558 Million
