Multicultural Grant recipients

Ten local organisations will share $43,795 in grant funding for community events which celebrate the diversity of the Inner West community.
“The Inner West is the birthplace of Australian multiculturalism and the high-quality applications in our first grant round demonstrate the continuing need to celebrate our diversity,” said Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne.
“With this funding, these local organsiations have an opportunity to put on events that celebrate music, dancing, entertainment activities and culturally significant refreshments.”
The successful organisations are:
• Kween G for ‘UHAMBO, A Journey to Africa presented by Thuba Ndibali’
• Inner West Vietnamese Community Language School for ‘Parents and Children Festival for all Community Language Schools the Inner West’
• Ethnic Community Services Cooperative for ‘Celebrating Portuguese Day’
• Fernando Coloma and Heartdancers for ‘Sounds of Latin America’
• Addison Road Community Centre Organisation for ‘Cultures, community and childcare- celebrating the Addison Road childcare centre and its multicultural history’
• Metro Assist for ‘Mid-Autumn Festival (Chinese Moon Festival)’
• Stepping Out Housing Programme for ‘Celebrating Child Sexual Abuse Survivors Cultural Food’
• Chinese Australian Services Society for ‘Inner West Chinese Culture Day 2019’
• Ashfield Seniors Eden for ‘Celebration Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival’
• Greek Orthodox Community of NSW Child Care Centre’ for ‘Celebrating 40 years Greek Orthodox Community of NSW Child Care Centre 1979-2019’
Council adopted the recommendation to grant funding to the amount of $43,795 at its meeting on Tuesday, 11 June 2019.
