Biography

Georgina Wood is an actor, writer and visual artist living in Sydney. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Auckland New Zealand 2010 and she received her Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts from St. George College, Kogarah in 2014.. She is holding her first solo art exhibition this month at Leichhardt Library, and has exhibited at the Gaffa Gallery CBD, Art Est in Leichhardt, and TAP Gallery Paddington.

Georgina joined Milk Crate Theatre (MCT) through the workshop programme in 2011, playing the female lead Pepper in Fearless and composing the song Home is Where the Heart Is. The Fearless script was written by Mirra Tod and placed on the HSC list in 2013. She is currently working on Headway, a professional development with Margot Politis, and plans to direct a number of Theatre of the Oppressed workshops in 2018

Georgina was involved in an outstanding short film Invisibility, which was selected for the Social Justice Film Festival Seattle where it won best macro documentary. In the last two years Georgina has focussed on developing her forum and theatre direction skills, having been an assistant director for Wasted (2016), an actor in That’s the Spirit (2017), and co-director Link Housing Forum (2017).

In my art practice I like to explore light/dark and colour in the evocative power of nature in a period of global warming. Much of my most recent work has been done out of doors around Sydney Harbour. Other works are based around Forster and its environs, and the hinterland of the Gold Coast.

I'm also passionate about Theatre of the Oppressed. I believe it has the ability to transform lives as it shows and discusses real stories by real people.
