The all female and non-binary quartets improvised solos, lush harmonies, and jazz grooves immerse crowds in an unforgettable experience. Monstress have scheduled single release after release, starting with ‘Heather’s Diary’, a punk-funk-nu-jazz-jumptastic sonic experience.

Born from the need for more women in the choro scene in Sydney, this all-female group was created to bring a fresh, feminine touch to the genre. The group features Sara Muller on flute, Laura Balthazar on clarinet, Bruna Rangel on guitar Fabiana Souza on cavaquinho, Alexandra Bastos on pandeiro and Lena Sturzenecker on rebolo. Their mission is to bring the beautiful choro genre to different audiences, enriching the cultural scene in Sydney while also encouraging women to play choro.
