Early voting for Inner West Council elections

Monday 21 August 2107

Early voting for Inner West Council elections has commenced.

Inner West Council elections are on Saturday 9 September 2017.

Postal and pre-poll voting are the only options for early voting in the upcoming Council election, as there is no absent voting at local government elections

Postal voting is available for anyone unable to attend a polling place on election day during polling hours (8am – 6pm).

Applications for postal votes are open at http://www.votensw.info/early_voting/postal_voting or by calling 1300 135 736.

Applications must be received by 5pm Monday 4 September.

Postal vote packs will be sent out from today, Monday 21 August.

Inner West Council pre-poll voting opens next week, Monday 28 August, and closes Friday 8 September.

Pre-poll voting is available at:

  • Ashfield Service Centre, 260 Liverpool Road Ashfield
  • Inner West Returning Officer's Office, 373-383 Illawarra Road Marrickville
  • Leichhardt Town Hall, 107 Norton Street Leichhardt
  • Sydney Town Hall, 483 George Street Sydney

Voting is compulsory in areas where elections are being held (such as Inner West Council), and citizens can check they are correctly enrolled at the enrolment verification facility.

While electoral rolls for each council area were printed on Monday 31 July, it is still possible to update names or addresses at a pre-poll venue or polling place, through a process known as ‘Enrol and Vote’.
