Mia Economou 2022 Young Creative - Local creatives
Mia Economou is the runner up of the 2022 Young Creatives Awards. She is a 20 year old student, studying exercise physiology at Sydney University, where she is also a member of the elite athlete program. She has been competing at a
national
level, since she was 12. While she is an athlete, she has always been passionate about her art practise, ever since she was a toddler. Her mum would always give her art supplies to create whatever she wanted. Her grandparents are also painters, so art has just always been in the family. She sees herself continuing to be a creative for the rest of her life, as it is something she really enjoys. Specifically, she has a passion for painting landscapes and capturing the beauty of nature. There is something about earth tones and the way that different shades of green juxtapose that she is really drawn to, and is something that she always includes in her art.

Creative Trails Featured Artist -Darren Charlwood - Local creatives
Born in Camperdown, in Sydney’s inner West in 1974, Darren is the youngest of five siblings. He grew up in Redfern surrounded by the newly empowered Aboriginal community in the 1980’s. Darren left school early to pursue a career in butchery, however his love of art had already been born. Darren would often paint Aboriginal landscapes and give his paintings away as presents to family and friends. After the breakdown of two long-term relationships and the death of his father, Darren found himself in the grips of a drug addiction and living in the s
tree
ts. One
day
, while under the influence of drugs, he wondered into Eora TAFE and met an art teacher by the name of Chico Monks.

PRUAIP-New cycleway from Parramatta Rd to Mallet St - Upcoming and ongoing projects
Design & construction of a new cycleway from Parramatta Rd to Booth St/Mallet St, Camperdown. Pyrmont Bridge Road is expected to undergo substantial change in the short-to-mid term future. Significant urban infrastructure works and approaching changes to planning and land use mean that many of the existing buildings and even local s
tree
t patterns may no longer exist. As such, the Master Plan is intended to act as a set of design guidelines which may be applied to future Pyrmont Bridge road layouts. The work will entail the creation of a boulevard, with a
tree
lined road and two one way separated cycleways, one each side of the road. The s
tree
t is to be re-engineered across the full width of the corridor. Footpaths are a generous width, cycleway and footpath are separated with planting and a paved buffer space is inserted between kerb side parking lanes and the cycleway.
