Development control plans (DCP)
New employment zones came into effect on 26 April 2023 in NSW. For more details on these reforms visit the Department of Planning and Environment website.
Any reference to a former zone in a development control plan and/or other planning documents is legally taken to be a reference to these new employment zones.
The primary purpose of a development control plan (DCP) is to guide development according to the aims of the corresponding local environmental plan (LEP). The DCP must be read in conjunction with the provisions of the LEP. The Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 requires that flexibility needs to be applied with DCP controls and allow for reasonable alternative solutions that achieve the objectives of the controls.
